Highway (The Great Inland Way) north from Roma or south from Charters Towers. Travel the Peak Downs
Highway south west from Mackay.

Catch the twice weekly "Spirit of the Outback" from Brisbane, Rockhampton or Longreach. Check timetable at any railway station.

Whilst all major roads are sealed, some of the secondary roads are unsealed. Please check with the local information centres or RACQ for road conditions. If you are travelling on roads which cross station boundaries, please close any gates you open.
